What's Happening in Brentwood, CA in October 2026?

October is the month Brentwood stops explaining itself. The corn is done, the pumpkins are on the vine, and downtown closes streets twice in three weeks. If you are thinking about buying here, this is the month to be in town. If you are thinking about selling, this is the month your neighborhood does your marketing for you.

Below is what is confirmed, where it happens, and what a month like this tells you about a house you might buy.

October 2026 dates and times

• Saturday, October 10, 1 to 7 p.m.: Oktoberfest, Downtown Brentwood. Free; food, drink, and some activities sold on site.
• Saturday, October 24, 4 to 8 p.m.: Hometown Halloween on Oak Street, First Street, and Brentwood Boulevard. Free trick-or-treating.
• Every Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon: Brentwood Farmers' Market, 655 First Street, year-round.
• All month, farm by farm: pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and tractor rides at Harvest Time member farms. Hours shift with the weather.
• Downtown parking is street parking for all of it, and it fills early on event days.

When is Oktoberfest in Downtown Brentwood in 2026?

Oktoberfest 2026 is Saturday, October 10, from 1 to 7 p.m. in Downtown Brentwood. It is presented by the Downtown Brentwood Coalition and the City of Brentwood, and this is the 16th year it has run.

The Coalition's event page lists a biergarten and a wine garden, German-inspired food alongside local restaurant fare, live music on the main stage all afternoon, beer stein games, a kids zone, a dachshund costume contest, and the Makers Blvd artisan marketplace. The Coalition estimates the day brings 8,000 to 14,000 people downtown, supported by more than 200 volunteers and a dozen-plus nonprofits.

When is Hometown Halloween in Brentwood?

Hometown Halloween is Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 4 to 8 p.m., organized by the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce. This year's theme is Heroes vs Villains. Trick-or-treating is free.

The footprint is larger than most people expect: Oak Street, First Street, and Brentwood Boulevard, from Third Street to Diablo Way and from Chestnut to Maple. Local businesses set up booths along the route and hand out candy, and there is a decorated-booth contest. In its materials for booth vendors, the Chamber describes the event as drawing more than 6,000 people.

If you are house-hunting and want to see downtown at full volume, this is the evening. Plan to park several blocks out and walk in.

Where can you pick pumpkins in Brentwood in October?

Brentwood calls itself the U-Pick Capital, and the claim is not marketing fluff. Harvest Time in Brentwood is a nonprofit that connects visitors to more than 65 member farms across East Contra Costa County, and it publishes a farm trail map and an interactive map every year.

G&S Farms, the third-generation Sellers Avenue farm that first grew the Brentwood Diamond sweet corn, says on its own site that each October it opens for off-the-vine u-pick, a corn maze, and pumpkin catapults. Other Harvest Time members run pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and tractor rides through the month.

Opening dates and hours shift with the weather and are set farm by farm. Rather than trust any date you read in a roundup, including this one, check Harvest Time's Farm Status page or call the farm the morning you plan to go. Farmers here will tell you straight whether the patch is picked over.

The farmers' market runs every Saturday in October

The Brentwood Farmers' Market runs Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon at 655 First Street, year-round, operated by the Pacific Coast Farmers' Market Association in partnership with the City of Brentwood.

October is one of the better months to go. The market's seasonal highlight right now is peanuts, and the vendor list includes a handful of growers based in Brentwood itself. The drive from farm to stall is measured in minutes, not hours.

What does an October tour tell a buyer that a June tour cannot?

I tell every client this. It is why I push people to look at homes here in fall, not only in spring.

October is harvest. That means agricultural truck traffic on Sellers Avenue, Walnut Boulevard, and Marsh Creek Road. It means tractors running early. It means dust, and on some parcels, spraying. In April, a home backing onto farmland reads as a view. In October, you find out what that view does at 5 a.m.

None of that is a defect. It is the deal Brentwood made with itself, and the city put it in writing. Under Brentwood Municipal Code section 8.01.060, a Right to Farm disclosure is required for property within 2,000 feet of agricultural land, and it has to be delivered at least five days before title transfers. Signing it means you accept normal agricultural operations as a permanent condition of the neighborhood. It does not expire when the farm changes hands, and it does not go away because a subdivision goes up next door.

Sellers pay attention to October weekends

Two reasons, both practical.

First, foot traffic. On Oktoberfest Saturday and Hometown Halloween evening, downtown streets are closed and thousands of people are walking around Brentwood on purpose. That is a poor day to hold an open house downtown, since half your buyers cannot park, and a very good day to have your listing photographed.

Second, timing. Fall buyers here tend to be people who need to move rather than people browsing. Fewer showings, more serious ones. If your home shows well in October light and your street is quiet on a harvest weekday, that is worth knowing before you price.
