How Do You Get to BART from Brentwood? A 2026 Buyer's Guide

A buyer from the central Bay Area tours a home in Brentwood, likes it, and then asks the question with a nervous edge in their voice: how bad is the BART situation, really?

This is the question I field more than almost any other from buyers coming out of the central Bay Area. What follows is the answer with real addresses, fares, and first-train times rather than a vague "it's about an hour." I spent over 30 years in this business on the lending, title, and escrow side before sales, and I'd rather hand you the numbers and let you decide than tell you what you want to hear.

Where is the closest BART station to Brentwood?

Antioch Station, at 1600 Slatten Ranch Road in Antioch. It's the end of the Yellow Line, and it's not a conventional BART station. It runs diesel multiple unit vehicles that connect to the rest of the system at a transfer platform between Pittsburg/Bay Point and Pittsburg Center, where you walk from one train to the other. BART notes that this transfer platform is only reachable by train.

That transfer catches first-time riders off guard. You don't ride a single train from Antioch to downtown San Francisco; you ride out to the transfer platform, step across, and continue. Once you've done it once it's unremarkable, but it's worth knowing before your first 6 a.m. attempt.

Weekday southbound service runs every 20 minutes. The first train toward San Francisco International Airport leaves Antioch at 4:51 a.m., and the last departure of the night is at 11:47 p.m. toward Millbrae.

What does it cost to park at Antioch Station?

Daily parking is $3.40, and the reserved and monthly rates are in the box above. The number that matters more than the price is availability. BART's own station page lists the estimated parking fill time at Antioch as "capacity available at all times," and the district opened an additional lot in 2021 that added 850 spaces. If you have ever circled a Bay Area BART garage at 7:30 in the morning, that line alone may be the most valuable sentence in this article.

Can you get to BART from Brentwood without driving?

Yes, and the piece most buyers don't know about is the Brentwood Mobility Hub, Tri Delta Transit's name for what used to be called the Park & Ride. It sits at Walnut Boulevard at Dainty.

Tri Delta's Mobility Hub page describes Route 300X as the fastest way to BART from Brentwood, with very few stops in between and a station-front drop-off — no parking fee and no walk across a lot in July heat. Route 300X also picks up at Highway 4 and Village Drive in Brentwood.

Route 373 runs between Antioch BART and the Brentwood Park & Ride seven days a week, which matters if your trips aren't all weekday commutes.

One caution, and it's a real one. Tri Delta Transit changed both its routes and its timetables in a schedule change effective Sunday, August 9, and the agency attributes the change to the fiscal cliff and economic factors. Some pages on its own site still list the pre-change route lineup. Before you plan a commute around a specific route number, check the August 9th Schedule Change page or call Route Information at (925) 754-4040 and confirm.

When driving to Antioch stops being realistic

This is the section I wish more agents wrote, because for a lot of the households I work with it's the question underneath the question.

Tri Delta Transit runs Tri MyRide, an on-demand, corner-to-corner shared shuttle. You book it through an app or by calling (925) 470-4997, and it costs $2 per ride, $4 round trip. Service runs Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays. Average wait is predicted at 15 to 30 minutes, and the vehicles can carry wheelchairs.

Tri Delta's site lists a Brentwood Zone with its own service-area map, and its note on that page says the Brentwood Zone can also reach the Los Medanos College Brentwood campus and John Muir. When a detail like that decides something for you, call and confirm rather than trusting the page. I do the same thing before I tell a client anything.

Separately, if you or someone in your household is 65 or older, Tri Delta offers Senior Paratransit within its local fixed-route service area in eastern Contra Costa County. Transportation hours run Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with no service Sundays or holidays. As of July 1, 2026, trips can be booked by phone from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, including holidays. Read the fine print on the agency's own page: rides are subject to availability and are not guaranteed.

One more accessibility detail that never appears in a listing: at Antioch Station, two different elevators are needed to travel between the street and the trains — one to the pedestrian bridge and concourse, and a second inside the paid area to reach the platform. If stairs are a factor for anyone in your household, that's a thing to walk once before you count on it.

Drive the route before you write an offer

Not on a Saturday afternoon when you're touring homes. On a Tuesday, leaving at the hour you'd actually leave.

Highway 4 through east county behaves differently at 6:45 a.m. than it does at 1 p.m., and the difference between a home on the west side of Brentwood and one further east can quietly change your morning by a meaningful amount over a fifteen-year ownership. No appraiser adjusts for it. No listing sheet mentions it. It shows up in your life every single weekday.
